About GLP-1 Medicine.
What medication will I actually get?+
The default is an FDA-approved GLP-1 medication — the affiliated physician selects the specific FDA-approved product based on your history and response. A compounded version (typically containing semaglutide or tirzepatide, prepared by a state-licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy) may be prescribed only when the patient’s chart documents a specific clinical reason. Compounded medications are not themselves FDA-approved products.
Is this an FDA-approved medication?+
The default prescribing option is an FDA-approved GLP-1 medication selected by the affiliated physician. A compounded version (typically containing semaglutide or tirzepatide as the active ingredient, prepared by a state-licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy) may be prescribed only when the patient’s chart documents a specific clinical reason — for example, an FDA-approved formulation being unavailable to the patient. Compounded medications are not themselves FDA-approved products.
How is it taken?+
Typically a once-weekly subcutaneous injection using a small needle — similar technique to how people manage diabetes at home. The physician and pharmacy provide detailed instructions; many patients are comfortable within a few weeks.
What are the side effects?+
Most common: mild GI effects (nausea, reflux, constipation) especially in the first week or two as your body adjusts. These typically ease with time and dose adjustment. Less common but more serious: pancreatitis, gallbladder issues, or hypoglycemia in certain contexts. Your physician explains all of this during the intake and monitors throughout.
Whether You’re a Fit.
Who qualifies?+
AFJA is designed for adults 30–65 who are a medical fit for GLP-1 therapy. Generally that means a BMI at or above 27 with weight-related comorbidities, or 30+ without. Your physician evaluates this during the intake. If you’re not a fit, we say so and refund.
I’m under 30 or over 65. Can I still apply?+
The program is designed for 30–65, but edge cases are reviewed individually. Apply and share your context; we’ll let you know.
I have a history of thyroid cancer or MEN2. Can I apply?+
Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2 is a contraindication for GLP-1 therapy. In those cases we can’t responsibly prescribe, and we’ll tell you honestly before taking payment.
I’m pregnant or trying to conceive. Can I apply?+
GLP-1 medications are not indicated during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or active attempts to conceive. Your physician will confirm this during the intake and recommend alternatives if appropriate.
I’m already on GLP-1 with someone else. Can I transfer?+
Yes — many AFJA patients come from other providers. Your physician will review your current regimen and labs and either continue what’s working or recommend adjustments. Most transfers are patients who wanted more physician attention than a subscription clinic provides.
What Actually Happens in 6 Weeks.
How much weight will I lose?+
Individual results vary based on starting weight, medical history, adherence, and individual biology. Clinical trials on GLP-1 medications show meaningful average weight reductions over longer time frames; six weeks is a shorter window and results within it vary widely. The 6-week program is designed to see whether your body responds — not to deliver a predetermined number on the scale.
When will I start noticing changes?+
Many patients report appetite shifts within the first week or two. Visible weight changes typically lag behind the appetite changes. Week three onward, once dose is adjusted, is where most patients start seeing steadier trends.
Do I need to diet or exercise?+
The medication works on its own, but results are best when combined with reasonable eating and movement habits — not extreme restriction. Your physician will share evidence-based guidance during the intake.
What if I don’t see results?+
Talk to your physician. Some patients need dose adjustment; some have other clinical factors affecting response. Six weeks is long enough to see a trend but short enough that "no response at all" is worth investigating rather than accepting.
The Practical Details.
What exactly does the $199 cover?+
Two physician consults (intake + protocol design), a metabolic lab panel, GLP-1 medication for the 6-week program (FDA-approved by default; compounded only when the chart documents a specific clinical reason), direct physician messaging, a mid-program dose review, and the end-of-program final consult. No other charges during the 6 weeks.
Does insurance cover this?+
No. AFJA is cash-pay by design. We provide itemized receipts for HSA/FSA submission on request.
Do I need to come into an office?+
No. All consults happen via secure video. Labs are collected at a walk-in LabCorp or Quest near you. Medication ships to your door.
How private is this?+
Fully HIPAA-protected. Shipping is discreet and unmarked. Billing statements don’t identify the medication. We don’t sell, share, or market based on your health data — ever.
Who are the physicians exactly?+
Independent, board-certified physicians in our affiliated medical practice network. Every physician is licensed in the state where they see patients. AFJA Enterprise LLC is a non-clinical platform; it does not practice medicine or make clinical decisions.
